While termed as Generation Y and the "echo boomers" much of this population likes to be identified as the name that they gave to themselves: the millennial generation. This group is typically defined as those born from around 1980 until the end of the millennium. They grow up in the new 21st century and this is how they get their name. The millennial generation is usually named the echo boomers as they are also the result of a baby boom. A college degree is no more a guarantee of an easy hire and a decent paying position and underemployment and unemployment is a grave concern for this demographic.
