Going To An Exhibition Of Realistic Baby Dolls And Board Games With My Spouse And Kids
I took my entire family on a family outing today to a museum of childhood and doll. My spouse likes dolls, especially realistic baby dolls, as she has been a collector for many years. She told me that there was going to be a display of realistic baby dolls at this museum, so we decided we might have a look.
Upon arrival, we soon saw that this was a very large exhibition into the lifes and cultures of children over the past a hundred and fifty years or more. There was one specific show that made me understood how difficult a life children had back in the late 1800's.
The exhibit was exhibiting to you the tough circumstances they had in employment as well as the hours they were required to work.
One of the cases was chimney cleaning. Kids at approximately 6 years of age was performing the job, with no security equipment and was exposed to obvious lung problems. Accidents and tragedy was frequent its sad to say. The times were lengthy too, with kids working so long as 13 hours a day in factories with just one short break. How the quality of life has changed within the hundred or so years for the worlds children.
Further into the exhibition, there was a vast array of toys from the previous, right up to the present. Some of these toys reminded me of my childhood, as one or two of the items on show I recall owning, and starting from toy trains and tricycles, right up to a number of the common branded board games we can still buy today.
It was not only a good day out for all of the family. My wife was happy to see her realistic baby dolls, and a large range of dolls there was. This outing was certainly an education and more importantly, a reminder that life was not as easy for children as it could have been back in these difficult laborious, lengthy working days 100 or so years ago.
